The Charleston Gaillard Center is a leading performing arts hall in Charleston, South Carolina. The center commissions, supports, and presents ambitious, multidisciplinary cultural programming and provides access to the best local, national, and global artists and companies on its stage.
The original Gaillard Municipal Auditorium’s theatre was built in 1968 as a multipurpose facility rented by promoters for various events in the Charleston area. The owner designed and renovated the existing structure with additional new construction as a municipal auditorium complex, consisting of a renovated Performance Hall to be one thousand eight hundred (1,800) seat multi-purpose auditorium. This also included an expanded exhibit space for a 38,715 gross square foot exhibit hall and new city offices within an 80,880 gross square foot municipal office building that is located on the site of the existing Gaillard Municipal Auditorium and Exhibit Hall on approximately four (4) acres of land at the north side of George Street between Arson and Alexander Streets in Charleston, South Carolina. The new expansion totaled approximately 246,400 gross square feet of building area.
FMG Design developed an experiential graphics and wayfinding program as well as a comprehensive donor recognition program for the Charleston Gaillard Center.
